My work with clients encompasses a variety of challenges, especially those that come at key life transitions: adolescence, young adulthood, midlife, through shifting roles and relationships. Change, conflict, and crisis can be painful and destabilizing—I offer care, support, and guidance when a life story takes a turn.
I currently practice in private offices in Sunnyvale and Los Altos, each close to the meeting of Highways 85 and 280. I am also able to work in the community or in-home, when appropriate and by special arrangement.
The process of therapy begins where you choose to begin. You know your hopes and concerns best, and I am committed to understanding your struggle from your perspective. My preference is to address what's happening in the present, but we may look back at the historical roots of a current crisis, exploring early relationships and the impact of past events. Dialog, experiments, and exercises may help you gain insight, change thinking or behavior, or simply reinforce inherent strengths. Regardless of where the process leads, I hold the highest regard for your point of view, and for your right to choose the course of treatment. I will strive to listen well and apply all the expertise at my disposal, yet the therapeutic relationship is a collaboration: I have training, but you hold the keys to change. Your desire for growth and healing are essential to your success.
